“The Marriage of Belugin” is a comedy in five acts by the famous Russian playwright Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky (1823–1886). The drama was written jointly with Nikolai Solovyov. The son of a wealthy manufacturer, Andrei Belugin, is going to marry an equally rich girl, Tanya Syromyatova. But shortly before the wedding, he announces to the bride and all relatives that he has stopped loving her and is going to marry someone else... Other famous works of Alexander Ostrovsky are “Slaves”, “Talents and Admirers”, “Handsome Man”, “Guilty Without Guilt”, “Not from of this world”, “Petition of Claim”, “Vasilisa Melentieva”, “Savage”, “It shines, but does not warm”, “Whim”. The work of Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky played a crucial role in the development of the Russian national theater. His plays have not left theater stages to this day.
