Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky (1823–1886) is a Russian playwright, whose work became the most important stage in the development of Russian national theater. The action of the play “The Thunderstorm” takes place in the summer in the fictional city of Kalinov on the banks of the Volga River. Domostroy reigns in the Kabanov family; Tikhon’s mother, Marfa Ignatievna Kabanova, is in charge. Tikhon's wife Katerina, the main character, lived in her parents' house in love and affection. Everything changed when she married Tikhon. And so Katerina falls in love with Boris, Dikogo’s nephew. Boris is also secretly in love with her. Katerina confesses to her husband that she has cheated on her, and her life becomes completely unbearable... The collection also includes the plays “Dowry” and “Profitable Place.”
