Mikhail Shtikh (1898-1980) - professional journalist, younger brother of Alexander Shtikh, a close friend of Boris Pasternak. In his youth, he prepared for a career as a violinist, but life and the vicissitudes of the Civil War decreed otherwise. Since childhood, he passionately loved poetry, which was greatly facilitated by the environment and interests of his older brother. The period of M. Stich's own poetic creativity is short: he began composing at the age of 18 and finished at 24. His poems are in the nature of confessional lyrics and were never intended for publication. However, despite the author’s youth, they are talented and original, and are of undoubted interest both for specialist researchers of poetry of the early 20th century, and for a wide range of lovers of Russian literature. Poems by M.L. Shtikh are published based on documents stored in the personal archive of S.V. Smolitsky.
