Standard textbook on church law, adopted in educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church. Also recordings of lectures by Father Vladislav Tsypin. He says about church law: “As the Body of Christ, the Church infinitely surpasses everything earthly and is not subject to any earthly laws, but as a human society, it is subject to the general conditions of the earthly order: it enters into certain relationships with states and other social formations. This circumstance alone brings it into the field of law. However, the area of law concerns not only these relations of the Church. It also covers intra-Church life, the structure of the Church, relationships between church communities and institutions, as well as between individual members of the Church. The Creator and Head of the Church gave it His law: the rule of faith and the rule of life by faith, that is, the dogmas of faith and moral law, and at the same time He gave the law by which the relationships between the individual parts of its living organism are established. The Church received its basic laws from Christ himself; she issued other laws herself, with the power that He entrusted to her. Norms and rules regulating both the internal life of the Church, in its communal-institutional aspect, and its relations with other social unions, religious or of a political nature constitute ecclesiastical law. With these norms, rules, and laws, the Church protects its God-created order.”
