Lade Livestone is a respectable grocery store owner. He does not investigate crimes, does not track down monsters, does not try to find traces of mystical conspiracies. He has a different, much calmer job, not associated with dangers and risks - he weighs out tea, coffee and tobacco to his customers. In addition, he is not averse to chatting about how troublesome the life of a shopkeeper is in a British colony on the outskirts of newly developed Polynesia, drinking a glass of beer in the company of friends, fellow shopkeepers, and complaining about the weather. Mr. Livestone's life is simple and calm. More precisely, it would be so if the city in which his shop is located was not called New Bangor. Although it may look unremarkable and discreet, like many colonies on tiny islands in the Pacific Ocean, some of its inhabitants know that this city has a very strange sense of humor that can drive even the most prepared person crazy.
