The monograph is devoted to the history of interaction between the Ottoman Empire and the rulers of Bukhara, Kokand, Khiva and Kashgar during the 16th – early 20th centuries. The research is based on materials from Turkish and Russian archives and manuscripts of Central Asian and Ottoman historians. The identified documents shed light on the history of relations between the Ottoman Empire and the Central Asian khanates in the first half of the 16th – early 20th centuries. This allows us to significantly complement existing ideas about the role of the Ottoman Empire in the history of international relations of the Central Asian states. The study of documentary sources on this topic remains of some relevance for modern Russia, since in the Central Asian khanates, after their annexation to the Russian Empire, the Eastern and Russian traditions of statehood and state building coexisted and developed simultaneously. The synthesis of these traditions subsequently did not lose its significance in the political history of Central Asia, both during the years of revolutionary transformations and after the collapse of the USSR. The publication is intended for specialists in oriental studies, university students and readers interested in international relations of the states of Central Asia.
