The subject of the analysis of the articles in this collection are narratives about the Leningrad blockade in the form in which they are reflected in literary texts, diaries, films, as well as in “adjacent series” - in propaganda materials and even in blockade gossip, which, in the absence of official information, played a huge role in the life of the besieged city. Authors guided by different methodological perspectives strive to show by what laws narratives about the blockade are built and what evolution they undergo over time. The collection offers a variety of disciplinary approaches to the blockade: it is the fruit of the joint work of philologists, cultural historians, sociologists and media researchers. Among the heroes of the book are prominent intellectuals (Lydia Ginzburg, Olga Freidenberg), poets and writers (Olga Berggolts, Gennady Gore, Pavel Zaltsman), as well as ordinary townspeople, whose siege texts have survived to this day. The study of this material allows us to create a three-dimensional impression of the blockade as a special kind of extreme anthropological experience that requires specific methods of narrativization.
