The presented book is the completion of a trilogy dedicated to the study of the Japanese sword. In the previous books, “The History of the Japanese Sword* and “The Examination of the Japanese Sword,” the sword was studied as an important phenomenon of Japanese culture. This work shows how a Japanese sword is created. The book contains detailed information about the methods of making blades and outlines the process of grinding and polishing them; numerous fragments from Japanese medieval and modern books are presented, as well as works of Japanese specialists translated into Russian. This work is intended for readers familiar with materials science and who have mastered the special terminology of Japanese blacksmiths and sword experts.
