Masha Levina-Parker analyzes the prose texts of Andrei Bely as a series of self-descriptions. This is the author’s rethinking of his Self, renewed over and over again in variations - in relationships with parents, ideas, objects of desire, colleagues, friends. The mechanisms of literary assimilation of the author's psychological trauma, the connection of the autobiographical with plots and motives, with narrative techniques and style are explored. The material is considered in the context of theories of transformist autobiographical writing. The combination of the theory of serial autobiography with the theory of autofiction (self-composition) in the hybrid theory of serial self-composition proposed by the author allows us to understand many of the mysterious features of Bely’s work.
