The collection of short stories “Differences” (2006) are five attempts by the famous Serbian writer Goran Petrovic (b. 1961) to talk about the lyrical and tragic sides of life through its reflections in iconography, photography, cinema, music, and a kaleidoscope of television programs.

I have always been attracted to borderline situations. That invisible seam that divides the world into the sphere of the real and the imaginary. That barrier that lies between the tragic and the comic, human and animal, past and future, happiness and unhappiness, history and myth... Literature is precisely the place where something ends and something begins, where pity and joy are mixed , because you are outside the boundaries of knowledge, outside the territory of logic, feeling fear and curiosity at the same time. Goran Petrovic
