He hates holidays. She loves them. It's full of festive fun. He resembles a copy of Scrooge from A Christmas Carol. The only thing Jonathan Frost and Gabriella Di Natale have in common, other than their absurdly seasonal names, is a healthy dose of mutual contempt for each other. Well, and one job at the city's favorite independent bookstore - Bailey's Book Store. But when the store's owners report a dire financial situation, Jonathan and Gabby discover they also share the imminent threat of being fired. Bailey is asked to minimize costs, attract new customers and set new sales records. So Jonathan and Gabby come to the conclusion that one of them will soon be laid off, unless there is a financial Christmas miracle. Neither of them wants to leave, so they make a deal: whoever sells the most in December will continue in the new year, and the loser will quit. With a limitless supply of holiday tricks up her sleeve, Gabby should easily outsell her nemesis, but every step of the unflappable Mr. Frost seems to be made with one goal in mind: to unsettle her. As if that wasn't bad enough, Gabby's lying ex keeps stalking her and her anonymous online friend suggests she take a break. Worst of all, as the stress of saving the store and her job mounts, Gabby sees a new, tender side of Jonathan. Could this be the same man she called her cold-blooded enemy?
