The new book by the most widely read Orthodox publicist is intended, firstly, to show why Christians, according to the author, “do not share the optimistic enthusiasm that has gripped the masses on the eve of the new millennium,” and secondly, to convince the reader that It is worth seeing “Antichrist’s trick” in any innovation.

The book consists of articles. The article that gave the title to the entire book has already been published as a separate publication and has caused lively controversy. In this edition, this article, significantly revised and expanded, is accompanied by a kind of convoy, both from articles specifically responding to criticism “about our defeat,” and from articles and interviews, although already published, but also significantly revised and expanded for the new book and, of course, continuing the main - apocalyptic - theme “about our defeat.”

The articles “Is the Antichrist allowed to be printed in Ukraine” and “In defense of the computer” were written especially for this book, dedicated to the acute problems of identification codes and computerization of society. The article “Trying to be an optimist” is also new. This, in the words of Father Deacon, is “an attempt to talk about the future in the language of cultural studies.”

The book has an extensive appendix. The articles contained in it, it would seem, are not directly related to the main problems of the book, but since they respond to Protestant, occult, liberal and pseudo-Orthodox attacks on the author as an Orthodox theologian, they fit well into the general context of the defense of Orthodoxy, dispelling the fog of anger and drunkenness , ideological one-dimensionality and exposing the world of substitutions, which, according to the author, is the world of the Antichrist.

The book, written, as always by Father Andrei, is lively, entertaining, and sometimes sharply polemical and paradoxical, with with all the brilliance of erudition of the most famous Orthodox writer, addressed to a wide range of Orthodox readers.
