The collection “Border and People” represents the first attempt to publish oral memoirs of Soviet settlers of Karelia and the Karelian Isthmus. The corpus of published texts is based on field notes from the expedition of the European University in St. Petersburg (Russia) and the University of Joensuu (Finland), conducted in 2000–2003. on the territory of the Priozersky district of the Leningrad region. and Lahdenpokhsky district of the Republic of Karelia. The collection includes sections dedicated to the memories of modern residents of the region about the period of military evacuation, moving and establishing life in new lands. The book is aimed both at specialists in the humanitarian branches of knowledge and at a wide range of readers interested in the history and everyday life of the Russian-Finnish border territories. The publication The book was carried out with the support of the Karelian Institute of the University of Joensuu.
