In the early morning of October 13, 1307, on the secret order of King Philip IV, arrests of members of the Order of the Temple began throughout France, and property and treasury were seized. On the same day, seventeen Templar ships sailed from the port of La Rochelle in an unknown direction, and the young Count Guitar de Beaujeu managed to secretly leave Paris, taking with him one of the shrines of the Order.
