"Cavalry" is the main work of I.E. Babel. It is dedicated to the Polish campaign of the First Cavalry Army in 1920. The book is printed according to the first separate edition, published by Gosizdat in 1926 and which included 34 stories. The “Additions” included four stories that are adjacent to the cavalry cycle, articles from the newspaper “Red Cavalryman”, a diary from 1920, “Plans and sketches for “Cavalry””, “Different readings in the stories”. The notes compare the historical realities mentioned in “Cavalry” and in Babel’s diary with the memoirs of S.M. Budyonny and testimonies of other participants in the events, as well as with authentic documents from the period of the Soviet-Polish War of 1920. Among the illustrations are photographs of Babel and his entourage, autographs of the writer and other unique materials. For a wide range of readers.
