15 years have passed since the last person died on Earth. Earthlings lost the war to their slaves - robots, artificial intelligence. But even decades later there is no peace on the planet. Now the two super-powerful winning AIs fight for control of the remaining bots, assimilating them into vast networks, absorbing memories and turning them into their tools. Now the remaining autonomous bots roam the wastelands that were once war zones, collecting the parts they need to survive. Now the heroine of the novel, the robot Fragile, is looking for the meaning of her existence in a world where there are no more people.
The novel was nominated for the 2017 British Science Fiction Award, and was included in the list of finalists for the 2018 A. Clarke Prize.
