It was steam that became the salvation of humanity, but at the same time steam brings death, since it needs to be extracted at extremely great depths, where monsters live, waiting in the wings. To ensure that production does not stop, we need those who will protect production and all humanity in the dungeons. But this is not a tale of great heroes. Even if inhaling steam gives you superpowers, vaporium is poison, and a person will not live even two years after that. Therefore, no one wants to become a hero, and if this is so, then society will force those who are unable to refuse. The book tells about one of these unfortunate people.
