The name of the novel was given by one of its main characters, the kitten Pixel, because Pixel really goes through walls. Yes, “this is impossible, but he is still small and doesn’t know about it, so he can do it,” explains the heroine of the novel. “And you never know where he will appear next.” And the main non-four-legged hero, Colin Campbell, a writer and retired colonel, who settled after being wounded at the Golden Rule orbital station, always gets into suspicious stories. It all started with the fact that a stranger who approached his table in a restaurant was immediately killed and certain elusive forces began to hunt for Campbell and his girlfriend. And if Heinlein’s “multiverse” had not contained the Time Corps, which maintains universal order, it is unclear how the adventures of Colin and his girlfriend would have ended. The novel is published in a new translation.
