The book offered to the attention of readers by the famous Russian philosopher V.F. Ern includes two separate works: “The Struggle for the Logos. Philosophical and Critical Experiments” and “G.S. Skovoroda. Life and Teaching.” In the first part of the book “The Struggle for the Logos,” V. Ern brilliantly developed the doctrine of Logos as the creative principle of being. In the second part of the book, the reader can get acquainted with the life and work of the Ukrainian philosopher, poet, teacher G.S. Skovoroda, who led the life of a wandering beggar-philosopher and whose writings were distributed in manuscripts. In his philosophical treatises, biblical issues are intertwined with the ideals of Platonism and Stoicism. G.S. Skovoroda saw the meaning of human existence in the feat of self-knowledge.
