This book is a rare example of how capacious, super-dense and poetic short prose in Russian can be today. The twenty-seven works included here represent that meaning-forming crystal of art, which is often formed precisely in the sphere of high literature. Denis Osokin (b. 1977) was born and lives in Kazan. He calls his works, regardless of volume, books. Some of them - “Figures of the Komi People”, “New Boots”, “Oatmeal” - were filmed. Of particular importance in Osokin’s books are always the geographic coordinates with their unique colors (Vetluga, Aluksne, Vyatka, Neya, Verkhny Uslon, Molochai, Urzhum...) and the personality of the hero-author, which are constantly changing.
