Finding herself in the middle of winter in a picturesque English countryside, where the famous author of “Peter Pan” J.M. Barrie loved to visit, American Joy, following her New York habit, goes for a run and suddenly hears the splashing of water and sees a man in a pond. Without hesitation, she rushes to help. Imagine her amazement when it turns out that the rescued lady of advanced years is a real English lady, the titled owner of an estate with a pond and, moreover, the mother-in-law of Joy’s school friend. Moreover, the lady did not even think about drowning: she simply swims in the pond every day, at any time of the year and in any weather. She is usually joined by four of her fellow swimmers, as they jokingly call their close-knit group. How will it turn out for a typical American woman, fixated on her career and health, to dive into the cold water of a winter English pond and become closely acquainted with the English character? What English lessons can she learn?
