Maurice-Marie-Émile Leblanc (1864–1941) was a French writer. Working at first as a reporter at Figaro, he published several collections of short stories, but did not achieve much success. Leblanc's literary godfather was the influential Parisian publisher Pierre Lafitte. He suggested that he come up with a hero who could compete in popularity with Sherlock Holmes. And Leblanc created Arsene Lupine - a mythical image in which the French were pleased to recognize themselves: a strong and brave hero, cunning, insightful and, most importantly, witty: he defeats his enemies by ridiculing them. In addition to five collections of short stories, fifteen novels and three plays about Arsene Lupin, Maurice Leblanc also wrote two dozen adventure, science fiction, romance novels and short story collections. This volume presents the novel “The Mystery of Roboray Castle”, the heroes of which try in vain to unravel the mysterious inscription and find the treasure, connecting this mystery only with Roboray Castle, and the solution turns out to be in a completely different place. But in search of treasure they find true friends and devoted love. The novel “Victor of the Special Brigade” tells the story of the adventures of Arsene Lupine, the legendary hero of many of Leblanc’s books.
