1944, Budapest. On an autumn evening in a small tavern, four old friends - a watchmaker, a bookseller, a carpenter and the owner of the establishment - spend time drinking a decanter of homemade wine and talking about everyday trifles. Outside the walls of the tavern there is a curfew and the rampant Nilashist terror, inside there is an island of stability and calm.
