She's just a cat, but she's smart and observant - at least smarter and more observant than the puppy they brought in recently. Or that baby who showed up at home one day and screamed all the time. What kind of stupid creatures these dogs and babies are! “Just a cat” named Ilsebill pours out her soul to the reader: about what she likes and doesn’t like, about strange human rituals and holidays and, of course, about the main thing - about food. Swiss writer Hannah Johansen, a multiple winner of prestigious European literary awards, “recorded” the cat’s thoughts. She started out as a translator of American experimental literature - and this clearly had an influence on her: Hannah knows how to “package” a bizarre idea into an effective form. From 1980 to 2007, a dozen of her books received prestigious literary awards in Switzerland and Germany. The writer’s works have not been translated into Russian before. The story does not continue, but in its own way complements Jutta Richter’s book “I’m Just a Dog,” which was published earlier in Compass Guide. Every child probably wanted to imagine what our pets think about us humans, and such books are a good start for imagination on this topic. Those who have a rich imagination will come up with a fascinating continuation of a cat or dog diary.
