Ivan Vasilyevich Kireevsky (1806–1856) is an outstanding Russian thinker who laid the foundation for an original Russian philosophy based, in his words, on living faith “as the highest rationality and essential element of knowledge” and on the centuries-old experience of Eastern Christian asceticism.
