“The Secret of the High House” is a novel by the famous Russian journalist and prose writer Nikolai Eduardovich Heinze (1852–1913). For many years now, the owner of a rich house has been tormented by terrible dreams - it seems to him that his long-lost daughter is calling to him from the depths of time. In desperation, he turns to his closest assistant in order to find the girl and return her to her father’s house, but the search is in vain - no one knows about the whereabouts of the fugitive. Meanwhile, Pyotr Innokentyevich’s second daughter, the beautiful Tatyana, is growing up in the house.
