There they find themselves in charge of a sort of reception center for refugee seers who are fleeing from Lucky Lucifer, aka Miri's uncle, Charles. Black also gives Miri an ultimatum - right before the Thai park rangers ask Black for his help in finding two missing tourists from Bangkok , have disappeared in the mountainous national wildlife park that takes up half the island. Rangers worry that the island's other inhabitants may be involved - a group of strange foreigners who have lived on the island for decades. These wild people call themselves Nachtsonne or "Night Sun". Black sends his team to help, but soon the search party disappears - and with them Nick, Angel, Cowboy, Dex and Jem. To make matters worse, a new force seems to have awakened on the island - a force somehow connected with Black himself. When Black and Miri's friends are still nowhere to be found, it becomes clear that the threat is serious, and Black will have to face the mountain and Nachtsonne himself. In the process, he calls upon his most unlikely ally to help.
