This publication is a translation of the book “Prem Sagar” (“Ocean of Love”) by the Indian writer Lallu ji Lal (1763–1835), performed by the outstanding Soviet Indologist Alexei Petrovich Barannikov (1890–1952). Prem Sagar is the legend of Krishna, the first major prose work in Hindi, which played a huge role in the development of this language. It was published in 1810 and, in turn, is a translation into Hindi of the stories set out in the tenth book of the Bhagavata Purana - a collection of legends and traditions about the childhood and youth of Krishna the shepherd.
