Alexander Grinevsky’s novel “Argish” complements and develops the tradition of “Robinsonade” in the recent history of Russian literature. Four tourists decided to have an exciting vacation, take a helicopter to a familiar river, and raft on rubber boats. But there was fog, rain, the pilots got everything wrong, and now, instead of the familiar river banks, rocky wastelands with rare patches of moss stretch out in front of the stunned men. It’s not even clear where exactly they were thrown - there is, of course, no mobile communication, you can’t understand anything from the map. Reasonable people advise to sit and wait for help, impatient ones drive ahead - we need to go to the river. On the third day they will go out to the river, turn the boats around and begin rafting...
