As fate would have it, being left an orphan, Hugo becomes the keeper of the Clock at the Parisian train station. He lives there - in a small closet right under the roof, away from human eyes, because otherwise he will be taken to a shelter. In order not to die of hunger, the boy is forced to do bad things: he steals croissants and bottles of milk from the station cafe. But one day he meets a funny girl, obsessed with reading books, and a grumpy old man, the owner of a toy shop. Their destinies are intertwined - like one gear clings to another, starting, like a clockwork, a chain of magical events. Hugo is in danger of being exposed, but most importantly, his precious secret is in danger. After all, this whole touching and intricate story revolves around a mysterious notebook with drawings and drawings dedicated to a mechanical man who is supposedly capable of writing a message on behalf of Hugo’s deceased father.
