Afghan Atiq Rahimi lives in France and writes books to tell the truth about his war-torn country. Having published several novels in his native language, Rahimi decided to write a book in the language of his new homeland, and this first attempt was so successful that his novel “Singe Sabur (The Stone of Patience)” was awarded France’s highest literary award, the Prix Goncourt, in 2008.
