The book “History of the Mongols” consists of two works that have long been recognized as classics in the field of studying the history of the empire of Genghis Khan and his heirs. One of them, the work of the famous sinologist Fr. Iakinfa (N.Ya.Bichurina), dedicated to the first four khans who ruled the Mongols. He, in turn, used Chinese sources that had not yet been translated into Russian: “The History of the Family of Genghis Khan” and “General History.” Italian Plano Carpini, one of the founders of the Franciscan Order, Vatican diplomat, papal ambassador (in 1245-1247 .) to the Great Khan of the Mongols Guyuk, left the first European written evidence of the Central Asian regions, the significance of which as a historical source is great.
