In 1944, in the North Atlantic, a German “free hunter” picked up a Russian sailor from a sunken ship at sea. The sailor was not shot, but was hired as a mechanic on the submarine crew. And six months later, the “hunter,” transporting valuable cargo as part of the ODESSA convoy, was itself attacked by English destroyers and sank off the island of Fuerteventura in the Canary archipelago. The only survivor was a captured Russian sailor... Half a century later, the son of a sailor and two of his friends - a former FSB colonel and a former Afghan sniper - learn about the sunken German submarine.
