This edition includes selected works by John Wood Campbell (1910–1971), an American writer and publisher rightfully considered one of the most significant figures of the “golden age of science fiction.” D. Campbell himself wrote little - but he became the “literary father” of Isaac Asimov, Lion Sprague de Camp, Lester del Rey, Poul Anderson - and many, many more authors who are now recognized as absolute classics of the genre, but at one time they literally grew up under the wing of Campbell's magazine, Astounding Science Fiction. The magazine, which, as they say, created the “style and style” of classic American fiction, however, left Campbell almost no time for independent creativity. Almost... because the best of Campbell's legacy is still perceived as if it were created yesterday. There are plenty of examples of this, but the most striking of them is the story “The Thing.” If only because the film based on it was watched - and continues to be watched - by the whole world. Contents: The path of the black star From the darkness of the night Lunar hell Something Dying Earth (cycle) Machine (cycle) Penton and Blake (cycle) Waterson and Gale (cycle) The last stage evolution (cycle)
