The book “Notes of a Soviet Translator” was first published in 1937 in Sofia. Its author, translator Tamara Vladimirovna Solonevich (1894–1938), describes Russia in the 20s and 30s. last century. These were years of devastation, poverty, hunger and complete lawlessness of power, “when five people would have gone to prison because of a rooster.” The presented pictures of the Soviet regime contrast sharply with the sentiments of people from the “free world” - foreign delegations visiting the USSR.
