Compositionally, the book is clearly divided into two parts. The first part is a cycle of stories united by a common ideological and moral pathos and a special narrative style. This is a tale that preserves the living intonations of figurative folk speech in all the richness of their manifestations. The tale style of storytelling is one of the most difficult in literature. The second part, which includes the story “Anna Stepanovna”, and the scripts “Mother-in-Law” and “Fulfillment of Desires” are written in a different manner. There is no fabulous folklore poetry here, the narration is more objectified, the distance “author - hero” increases, but the spiritual situation remains the same. This is a situation of moral choice, spiritual self-determination of heroes, in which simplicity, goodness and truth win.
