The concept of “human being” is in urgent need of redefinition. "Posthuman" is an alternative for an era of radical biotechnological development, responding to the political and environmental imperatives of modernity. The philosophical landscape that has emerged as a response to the human crisis includes several movements, notably posthumanism, transhumanism, anti-humanism and object-oriented ontology. This book explains the similarities and differences between these schools of thought and provides detailed exploration of a number of topics that fall under the general rubric of the “posthuman,” such as the Anthropocene, artificial intelligence, bioethics, and the deconstruction of the human. Francesca Ferrando pays particular attention to philosophical posthumanism, which she defines it as a philosophy of mediation that studies the meaning of a person not in isolation, but in connection with technology and ecology. Thus, a post-human shift is outlined that meets the global demand for social change, responsible science and the coexistence of species. The publishing layout is saved in a4.pdf format.
