“Prolegomena”, the translation of which is published in a separate edition, is a section of the work “Towards the Ontology of Social Being”, giving a concise and generalized presentation of the concept developed by the Hungarian Marxist philosopher D. Lukács (1885-1971) in this last extensive and incomplete labor. The Prolegomena reflects the results of Lukács’ many years of efforts to develop the general philosophical foundations of the theory of social life, including the results of such studies as the analysis of Hegel’s philosophy, Marx’s teachings on practice, the concept of socio-historical labor as the basis of social life, the analysis of commodity and religious fetishism in connection with processes of alienation, problems of historicism and social progress, etc.
