Over the years that have passed since the publication of the volume “Scandinavian runic inscriptions” (1977) in the collection “The Ancient Sources on the History of the Peoples of the USSR” (now “The Ancient Sources on the History of Eastern Europe”), among old finds and during new archaeological excavations Many objects and coins were discovered with inscriptions made in Scandinavian runic writing. Among them are things from Novgorod, Smolensk, Suzdal, Zvenigorod Galitsky and other places. This volume contains all the runic and rune-like inscriptions originating from the territory of Ancient Rus' and neighboring lands, as well as from Byzantium (Part A). Texts containing information about Eastern Europe and originating from the Scandinavian countries have been clarified and supplemented with new finds (Part B).
