The proposed Commentary is compiled taking into account all the latest discoveries that, at least to some extent, shed light on biblical events. It was released in three parts. The first part: “The Book of Genesis - the Book of Job”, the second part: “The Psalter - the Book of the Prophet Malachi.” The third part includes all the canonical books of the New Testament. The articles are of a good scientific level; the material is presented very clearly, which makes this book accessible to a wide range of readers.

The Russian edition of the New Bible Commentary is based on the material of the second revised and corrected English edition of the New Bible Commentary (Inter-Varsity Press). The proposed Commentary is called “new” because it is compiled taking into account all the latest discoveries that, at least to some extent, shed light on biblical events. The commentaries follow the same order as the biblical books; if necessary, they are accompanied by explanatory articles; articles are provided with maps, diagrams, chronological tables and lists of additional literature. As a rule, these lists reflect a gradually increasing level of requirements placed on the reader. The books at the beginning of each list are designed to satisfy the needs of those readers who want to move from this Commentary to a more thorough acquaintance with the Holy Scriptures. We hope that the biblical commentary will be a reliable assistant to those who want to see biblical events in their entirety: spiritually, historically and theological contexts.

The book was published in English by Inter-Varsity Press, which is a division of the International Fellowship of Christian Students (IFES), which unites groups of religious students from more than one hundred countries around the world.
