The proposed Commentary is compiled taking into account all the latest discoveries that, at least to some extent, shed light on biblical events. The second part includes twenty-one books: from the Psalms to the Book of the Prophet Malachi. The articles are of a good scientific level; the material is presented very clearly, which makes this book accessible to a wide range of readers. The Russian edition of the New Bible Commentary is based on the material of the second revised and corrected English edition of the New Bible Commentary (Inter-Varsity Press). The proposed Commentary is called “new” because it is compiled taking into account all the latest discoveries that, at least to some extent, shed light on biblical events. The commentaries follow the same order as the biblical books; if necessary, they are accompanied by explanatory articles; articles are provided with maps, diagrams, chronological tables and lists of additional literature. As a rule, these lists reflect a gradually increasing level of requirements placed on the reader. The books at the beginning of each list are designed to satisfy the needs of those readers who want to move from this Commentary to a more thorough acquaintance with the Holy Scriptures. We hope that the Bible Commentary will be a reliable assistant to those who want to see biblical events in their entirety: spiritually, historically and theological contexts. In English, the book was published by Inter-Varsity Press, which is a division of the International Fellowship of Christian Students (IFES), uniting groups of religious students from more than a hundred countries around the world.
