Nikolai Andreevich Chmyrev (1852–1886) - writer, teacher, received higher education at the Faculty of Law of Moscow University. He taught geography at the 1st Moscow gymnasium and the school of survey topographers. Upon retirement, he devoted himself to literary activities, and shortly before his death he received the position of secretary of the Serpukhov City Duma. In addition to the novellas and short stories he published in the period 1881–1886. in the “Moscow List”, Chmyrev translated and published “Kobzar” by T. G. Shevchenko (1874), wrote the textbook “Synopsis of General and Russian Geography”, published about ten of his books in separate editions - mainly historical novels. Three works by Chmyrev. The first two novels, “The Debunked Princess” and “The Debunked Princess in Exile,” are dedicated to the first bride of the first tsar from the House of Romanov, Marya Khlopova, who, due to court intrigues, never became queen. The novel “Ataman of the Volga Robbers Ermak, Prince of Siberia” tells the story of a dashing ataman who once robbed ships on the Volga, and after forgiveness received from Ivan the Terrible, became the conqueror of Siberia, a folk hero.
