Henri Corbin (1903–1978) is an outstanding French Orientalist, philosopher and historian of religions, who published in French the works of Arabic-speaking and Iranian-speaking theologians and philosophers of the 9th–19th centuries, thereby opening up a huge cultural layer for European scientists. We can safely say that the activities of Henri Corbin enriched not only Western, but also Eastern science, and this was duly appreciated in the East. The Iranian ulema, who zealously protected the heritage of their spiritual teachers from outsiders, opened the doors of book depositories to him; the scientist established friendly relations with Sheikh Kirmani. The result of such close communication was a subtle knowledge of Islam from the inside, and the French professor acquired a new hypostasis - a Shiite gnostic and spiritual seeker. This publication includes works dedicated to both Shiite gnosis ("The Light of Glory and the Holy Grail", "Shiite Liturgy of the Grail") and Iranian Sufism ("Sufism and Sophia"). The Appendix contains a translation of the work of the Shia theosophist Shihab ad-Din Sohrawardi “The Language of Ants”. CONTENTS: Christopher Bamford.
