Monogatari Series (物語シリーズ Monogatari Sirizu) is a series of Japanese light novels written by Nishio Isin and illustrated by a Taiwanese illustrator under the pseudonym Vofan. Kodansha has published 23 volumes under the Kodansha Box imprint since November 2006, with 5 more volumes announced. Based on the light novels, anime adaptations were created from the Shaft studio; the first 17 volumes were filmed from July 2009 to August 2017.
The title of the series can be translated into Russian as “Stories.” The series is also known by the name of the first volume of the series - Bakemonogatari (Japanese 化物語 Bakemonogatari), which can be translated into Russian as “Stories of Monsters” (“bakemono” (Japanese 化物) - lit. “that which changes”, werewolf, monster , who took on human form, and “monogatari” (Japanese 物語) - “story”, “history”). The titles of all other volumes are also a combination of various words and "monogatari".
