The name of the famous French writer Andre Maurois is well known to Soviet readers. Shortly before his death, Maurois wrote a book about his hometown, Paris. He wrote brilliantly, poetically, lovingly. When talking about Paris, Maurois dwells mainly on historical and literary facts and pays less attention to the architectural and artistic features of the monuments. Therefore, the publishing house decided to accompany the writer’s text with appropriate detailed comments. Hence the composition of the book is slightly different than in other publications in this series.
