The first book of the trilogy “Behind the Glass” about the Special Design Bureau of Academician Sergei Pavlovich Korolev during the beginning of cosmonautics. Written in the sixties of the last century, it is slightly camouflaged for reasons of secrecy. The book presents the “kitchen” of the design bureau, which was then hidden from view and classified. The plot of the book is the story of an ordinary “theoretician”, an engineer in the design bureau’s orientation department. The sixties of the last century. A young specialist comes to a rocket and space enterprise. He was brought up in the old style of individual creativity, but ends up “on the conveyor belt” of collective work. Korolev, Rauschenbach and other pioneers of Russian cosmonautics, for reasons of secrecy, appear in the book under the pseudonyms under which they appeared in the press in those days. The book reflects the authentic situation and atmosphere of OKB-1 with photographic accuracy. Without embellishment, exaggeration and rave reviews.
