The story “Stranger” consists of three women's monologues. In each of them, the heroine, who remains mysteriously nameless, talks about a certain period of her life, trying to share something important and surprising, while at the same time trying to hide it among seemingly insignificant events and observations. As Patrick Modiano said: “It is clear that each of the women is talking about a different past. But it is unknown where they are now, at the time of the story, and what has become of them in life... it is not clear where these voices come from, both close and distant. And since it is not possible to link any of these stories with the further fate of the heroine, it seems as if each story is a broken piece of ice, forever doomed to float alone on the waves, acquiring the features of either a dream or fantasy.”
