Her reign began with bloodshed, and the oppressed people, who did not receive any relief with the accession of the cruel German woman, rebelled for good reason. The second female character of the novel is blessed Xenia of Petersburg, a clairvoyant, the holy intercessor of the disadvantaged and a predictor of events in the royal palace.
