Antipsychiatry is a creation of the rebellious era of the 1960s. Formed at the intersection of psychiatry and philosophy, psychology and psychoanalysis, critical social theory and cultural theory, this movement opposed coercion and enslavement of man by society, against total power and public institutions, and fought for true existence and liberation. Anti-psychiatrists put forward radical slogans - “Mental illness is a myth”, “A madman is a true revolutionary” - and developed revolutionary activities. Under the motto “Freedom Heals!” they destroyed the walls of psychiatric hospitals, organized therapeutic communes and anti-universities. What this radical wave was, what problems it posed and what results it had - all these questions are what this book tries to answer. It is for those interested in the history of psychiatry and the history of culture, social-critical movements and countercultural projects, for specialists in the field of bioethics, history, methodology, epistemology of science, sociology of deviations and philosophical anthropology.
