There are rumors all over London about Lydia Crowe's family. Urban legend says that her ancestors had magical powers, and perhaps today echoes of this magic still linger in one of the family members. Lydia has long settled in Scotland, where rumors do not concern her. However, she is forced to return to the capital, to the bosom of her family, as Uncle Charlie, the head of the Crows, asks Lydia to find her missing cousin. Lydia settles in Charlie's abandoned cafe, where she thinks she sees a ghost. Does she really have unusual powers? And what does the police inspector, who follows her around and either suspects Lydia of something or is trying to court her, need from her?
